The Preteen Ministry at Cross Church Springdale is a ministry exclusively for your 5th and 6th grader. Preteens are at an age where they need to be challenged in their faith and grow to know and love God’s Word. That’s why we are committed to partnering with you as the parent/guardian, in helping your student cultivate their relationship with Jesus Christ. Through life-changing events such as Preteen Weekend, VBS and Camp, our goal is to point your student to Jesus through all we do.

Parent Info

The preteen years are crucial to the development of your student. As a church, we desire to partner with you as you parent your preteen. During the preteen years, most kids undergo huge changes and challenges related to their self-image and their choices concerning morals, beliefs, relationships and life goals. It often becomes a difficult time in the relationship between parents and kids, but it is also one of the most critical times for parents to make sure they stay connected and accessible to their kids (Barna).

This is why we have created a resource specifically for you. Our Parent Guide has all the resources you need to guide your preteen through this stage of life.

Resources

As your student grows, they change. Surprise right? But don’t sweat it, we’re here to help. Mile Marker’s are crucial in each step of your preteen’s life. They include the appropriate conversations to have at each step. Download the resources below.

Small Groups

Because we believe that the most effective learning happens through relationships, we also offer small groups as a part of BOTH the 9:30 and 10:55 hour. Children are divided into age graded classes with small group leaders who reinforces the bible content introduced in large group. They will take a deeper look at what the bible says and experience fun, hands on activities to further connect with the day's lesson. Each hour is a different presentation of the lesson with different small group leaders for each hour. Check in for all Sunday kids programming is in the kids area.

Sunday Groups

Sunday’s are small group focused. Your preteen will learn that God loves them and desires a relationship with them. Everything we do surrounds this. Your student’s small group leader is either a high-school student or parent. They will also learn how to have a quiet time, pray, etc. through these groups.

Your student will also have the opportunity to be involved in Ministry Teams during the 9:30 am hour. Ministry Teams are a part of our discipleship strategy for your 5th and 6th grader based off their spiritual gifts. Ministry Teams include tech, prayer/encouragement, drama, worship band, and teaching team. The goal is not only to teach and equip your student in this particular area, but also to use this gift on our Mission Trip which will occur March 20-23, 2020. Mark your calendars!
